LIGHT THE CITY
A brand new church is coming to Yorba Linda in 2027. Before we announce the name, we are building the team. We need 50 leaders.
01 THE VISION
There is a historic chapel in the center of our city.
It has stood there for generations. And in 2027, the lights come back on.
Jesus said it like this:
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house." — Matthew 5:14–15
I believe God has given us that picture for a church centered on Jesus. A lamp, set on a stand, in the middle of the city. A people called out of darkness into His marvelous light, filled with His Spirit, and then sent to carry it into every street, every school, every home in Yorba Linda.
This is a Jesus church.
“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” — Acts 2:4
New name. New season. One mission: light the city.
The name comes soon. The team comes first.
02 THE TEAM
Before there is a church, there is a team.
The first church did not start with a building or a brand. Luke tells us how it started:
"All the believers were together and had everything in common... They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts." — Acts 2:44, 46
A people, together, all in. That is what gets built first. And that is the invitation in front of you.
03 THE BIG 4 | THE WAY WE LEAD
So what are we actually asking of you? Four commitments.
We call them the Big 4 — the four ways every Launch Team member helps carry the lamp to its stand.
Discipleship. We gather every Saturday. Proclamation, Prayer, Presence, and Communion. This develops devotion to Jesus, unity, healing, and real relationships. This is our journey where the church of Christ Jesus is formed in us before it is ever built around us.
“I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” — Matthew 16:18
Giving. We give regularly during this season. Why? Because a vision is carried by the people who own it.
The Big Give. We are asking 100 people to give $500 in the next 90 days to get us into the building: the deposit, the signage, and the transition costs of finishing our last chapter well.
Outreach. Monthly pop-ups in the new building, plus outreaches across the city. We are not waiting for launch day to start lighting the city. Every member is an inviter. Every invitation is the same three words: come and see.
04 THE SEASON
A season most people never get.
I believe God has given us a divine season, and it is a gift. You can go to church for ten years, serve every Saturday, and never have a season like this. A season to press in. A season to actually see each other. A season to know Him and to let Him change us from the inside out, so He can build a foundation strong enough to reach a city.
This is heart work before it is city work. God gave the promise we love to a people He had planted in a city not yet their own:
“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you… For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:7, 11
Transformed hearts, seeking to transform the hearts of generations in Yorba Linda. That is the hope. That is the future.
There is an old saying: when everyone does something, no one is left to do everything. Fifty leaders, each carrying their part, is how a church gets born.
